XSMG’s XSR48 Superboat: the “Bugatti Veyron” of the Sea
May 7th, 2008 by BallerRideXSMG is a company that began with a simple goal: to build the world’s first supercar on the water. The result of XSMG’s efforts is the sleekly-styled and equally powerful XSR48, which accomplishes that company’s goal of combining “the DNA and high performance of a supercar with superyacht styling.”
The 1600+ horsepower powerboat is powered by two diesel engines, which propel the 48-foot XSR48 to a top speed of 98 mph (85 knots). The superboat’s hull is made of kevlar and carbon fiber with cross linked pvc cores bonded using vinylester and epoxy resins.
