Little had come out of the Chicago Auto Show until Jalopnik discovered this Ford F-650 truck-turned-SUV from the Alton Truck Company. Weighing in at 25,999 pounds, the Alton F-650 features a Caterpillar 7.2L C7 ACERT engine with 230 horsepower and 660 lb.-ft. of torque. It also comes with hardwood floors, custom captain’s chairs, four wireless computer stations, a 42″ plasma TV and a rear view camera. No word on the fuel economy. But at a price of $200,000, gas prices should be the least of your worries if you purchase this beast. One more image after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

Dubai’s Bin Sulayem Shows His Fleet

February 6th, 2008 by BallerRide

What does Dubai’s most famous rally driver keep in his garage? In the video above, Muhammed bin Sulayem shows off his whips, which include F40 and F50 Ferraris, a Porsche 959, and a Jaguar XJ220. In the video he also insists that he’s not that rich. BS. Skip to the two minute mark to avoid the slow intro.

Who is Muhammed bin Sulayem?

Sulayem has won more FIA regional championships, and more international rallies, than any other racer in history. His premier event has been the FIA Middle-East Rally Championship. As the owner of Ben Sulayem Performance, he and his team have been noted for creating super-high performance modifications to a variety of sports and luxury cars. In 2005, he received press in motorsports’ circles for having a Mercedes SLK 55 AMG modified to accept a Modified SLR engine, providing the car with over 740 hp and 1200Nm (885 lbf·ft) of torque. The modified SLK has a higher top speed (350 km/h estimated) than the production SLR due to differences in weight and was noted for a video depicting it out-performing a Ferrari Enzo.

If your Rolls Royce Phantom isn’t roomy enough for you already, Mutec (Rolls Royce’s official coachbuilder) can extend it by 43 inches to make it a proper limo. The Mutec RR01 1100mm Phantom Limousine unfortunately does away with the standard Phantom’s signature aligning doors. But on the upside, this creates room for four large passenger seats in total. And while the Mutec Phantom doesn’t come with any more options than a normal Phantom, it does come in an armored version. Check out the interior picture after the jump.

Bring Some Style to Your Hood

Custom hood ornaments are an easy and relatively inexpensive modification that will make your whip stand out from the rest. Mascots Unlimited is a Rhode Island based company that’s been designing them for over 90 years. For generations they’ve been hooking up the Royal Family’s hoods with everything from frogs to polo players.

The company’s online catalog includes a pretty wide variety of custom hood ornaments, most of which are animal related. We’ve pictured some of our favorites in the thumbs below. In terms of pricing, you’re looking at a range of about $325-$545, a fraction of what you’d drop on just one nice rim. But you’ll need a security force equivalent to the Queen’s Guard to keep your new hood piece from getting jacked.
