We’re not sure whether our favorite part about WaterCar’s Python is the ability to go from land to water and back again seamlessly, or if it’s the easiest way to pick up girls on the water (see the video). WaterCar originally released a 2002 Convertible Chevrolet Camero in 2006 that had similar features to the Python and has now expanded to the Gator, a water-ready jeep, and the larger Python.
The Python is the world’s fastest amphibious vehicle clocking in at over 100mph on land and 60mph on water. It acheives these speeds from your choice of Corvette V8 engines ranging from the LS1 up through GM’s latest 6.2 liter suprecharged LS9 which propells the Corvette ZR1 along with 640hp. By water propulsion is acheived through a Dominator Jet Drive. Going from car to boat is easy with the driver merely putting the transmission in neutral, engaging the jet and pushing a button to raise the wheels. When going land-ho all one does is reverse the process.
The $200,000 Python is completely customizable with 60,000 exterior shades, 4,000 interior colors, and choice of placement of the seats and pedals. The interior is modeled off of a boat with two captain’s chairs in the front and a wrap-around bench in back. The downside? Aside from the car not having the cleanest lines, to say the least, be prepared to store this chick magnate inside as there is no hard or soft top available.
It’s time to whip out that check book and get out your ball point pen. Both a 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Coupe and a 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Roadster are on the auction block. These are some of the Mercedes elite as only 25 CLK GTR’s were ever produced; 20 coupes and five roadsters.
Both rides were built by AMG sister company HWA, and run with the same beast under the hood; a 612 horsepower, 6.9-liter V12 engine with dual overhead cams. The powerhouse engines are mounted atop a manual six-speed sequential gearbox which the driver controls with paddle-shifters. Read the rest of this entry »
