Rolls Royce announced that it will be premiering a Phantom Coupe at the 78th International Geneva Motor Show on March 4th. The Phantom Coupe’s 6.75-litre V12 throws off 453 bhp, 720 Nm of torque, and has segment-leading fuel economy. Like the four-door model, the Coupe comes with rear-hinged “coach” (suicide) doors. And the rear of the car features a picnic setup capable of seating two adults. Rolls will begin production of the Phantom Coupe this summer.

While it may not look as clean as Lambo doors or even the Phantom’s standard suicide doors, EDAG’s Rolls Royce Phantom door solution is at least semi-practical. Recognizing that the Phantom’s extra thick C-pillar was forcing passengers to crouch unnecessrily low, the German tuner devised a carbon fiber roof that rises up at the push of a button so occupants can walk right in and sit down. EDAG’s Phantom doors will be on display at the 2008 Geneva Auto Show next month. We’ll keep you posted as we get more pictures and pricing.

Rolls Royce Phantom Doors

Looking to buy a new Phantom from the dealer? Well, you might have to wait until 2010.

While Rolls Royce is beefing up production by 10% in the upcoming year, 100 of its new units are headed straight for China, and more are slated for other emerging markets.

The demand for the Phantom is so high right now that some dealers are refusing to add additional names to the wait list. But, if you’re willing to pay a premium, you shouldn’t have any problems finding one on the aftermarket.
