Gulfstream Previews its New G650
March 14th, 2008 by BallerRideGulfstream unveiled a mockup of its new G650 yesterday, giving future owners a preview of what they’ll get for their $65 million when the plane becomes available for sale in 2012.
The new Gulfstream has a 7,000 nautical mile range, meaning it can take passengers virtually anywhere in the world at speeds up to 704 mph, almost the speed of sound. The 99,600-pound cargo limit will provide owners the flexibility to bring pretty much anything they can cram into the plane.
While Gulfstream’s jets may not be as big or luxurious as, say, Saudi Prince Al-Waleed’s $176 million A380, they are often the preferred ride of the world’s wealthiest because their compact size allows them access to smaller airports typically unavailable to larger private jets. Their speed, agility, and sleek appearance also makes Gulfstream’s planes akin to flying Ferraris, as opposed to the A380, which compares more to a flying tour bus.
