Today is the first day of the Geneva International Motor Show, and Audi has come out of the gates big with its new eco-friendly R8 concept, the Audi R8 TDI Le Mans. The R8 concept features a more aggressive front grille than production models, not to mention a more eye-catching bright red and black color scheme.
Pumping out 500 hp, the 6.0L V12 takes the car from 0-62 in 4.2 seconds and to a top-end speed of 186 mph (making the car barely fast enough to justify its looks in our opinion). What is impressive is the car’s 737 lb-ft of torque, making the R8 TDI Le Mans one of the torquiest cars in existence. The car’s Euro 6-compliance also makes it “green.” So, if Audi decides to produce the model and you pick one up, you can feel like you’re doing your part to save the planet.

Mercedes-tuner BRABUS announced a new package deal in Geneva yesterday that should get yacht owners excited. Combining a customized Mercedes SLR McLaren with a matching Smart Fortwo ULTIMATE 112, BRABUS’ new package gives yacht owners the opportunity to own both the ultimate sports car and city driver.
The tuned 5.5 Liter, 650 hp SLR Roadster rockets from rest to 62 mph in just 3.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 211 mph, making it perfect for country roads and highways. The modified Smart Fortwo, on the other hand, makes the ultimate “tender for the city,” as its small frame ensures easy parking and handling.
Both cars come with body kits, new wheels, and lipstick-red BRABUS Mastik leather interiors with black Alcantara touches. Paint and interior colors can be switched upon the purchaser’s request. And the SLR can be switched out for a Maybach.
The cost? EUR 699,000 ($1,062,000).

Another set of images has been leaked pre-Geneva. This time, they’re concerning the Bentley Zagato GTZ, a modified version of Bentley’s Continental GT Speed. Details on the GTZ are scarce until the press release drops. But we can see that Zagato’s take on the GT Speed sports a new Veyron-ish front grille, as well as a curved roof and rear window.
Zagato is an Italian design studio that has a history of doing big things at the Geneva International Motor Show every year. We’ll keep you posted on what they’re up to this year when the show starts next week.
