The Flying Car of the Future: AutoGyro Cavalon Gyrocopter
April 20th, 2011 by PurnimaIf flying gets you excited, you might be interested to know of the newest addition to the flying range – The Cavalon Gyrocopter that was unveiled this week at Aero Friedrichshafen. For those of us who belong to the cave generation, a gyrocopter is midway between a plane and a helicopter/chopper. It can fly more slowly than a plane and faster than a chopper but it cannot hover. Further, it will not stall. The rotorblades are powered by air and hence it does not need a tail rotor. Basically, the gryrocopter is a flying vehicle that is helicopter of sorts to look at but with a different layout that gives it stability at low speeds. It is cheaper than a plane and a helicopter, takes off and lands on a much smaller base and uses a power pusher propeller in addition to an unpowered main rotor. Read the rest of this entry »
