British sports car maker Caterham Cars has partnered up with RS Performance to create the Caterham Seven RS, a “bespoke” version of its lightweight Seven with a power-to-weight ratio more than double that of a Bugatti Veyron. On the supercharged version of the Seven RS, a tuned 2.4-liter V8 engine delivers 550 hp on a curb weight of almost 1,150 pounds, propelling the car from 0-60 in under 3 seconds. At the top end, the car is electronically limited to 150 mph for safety purposes.

A 400 hp version of the Seven RS is also available. Only eight Caterham Seven RS’s will be made in total, and the first has just rolled out of RS Performance’s Hertfordshire doors. For the remaining cars, there will be a 12 week waiting time, and the cost will start at £115,000 (app. $229,000). One more image after the jump.
