If you’re a Top Gear fan like I am, you will remember Jeremy Clarkson racing a a motorbike in a very fast little supercar & getting his face almost blown off by racing the same car around the track. Well, that car was the Ariel Atom & Top Gear’s James May has just reviewed the newest model in a similar fashion, by racing it against the fastest road bike in the world, around the Top Gear track. The Top Gear host puts the new Atom through its paces & if you’re like me, your heart will go faster without having even sat in the driver’s seat.
Ariel’s new offering of the Atom features a V8 engine that outputs 500 horsepower. Now, while that may not sound so impressive on its own (in comparison to other supercars) it’s important to note that the Atom only weighs just over 1,200 pounds! That’s about half of what the Bugatti Veyron Supersport weighs, which means that the power to weight ratio is double of the Veyron. In fact, the V8 500 has 900 brake horse power per tonne – the Ferrari Enzo has 434bhp per tonne & the Bugatti Veyron sits at 530bhp per tonne.

Bugatti have been enjoying a surge in popularity in the last few years, no thanks to their Veyron & Veyron Super Sport – the fastest road car in the world at a wow-worthy top speed of 267.85 mph. No doubt Volkswagen are smiling all the way to the bank, with sales of the vehicle increasing every year.
Now Bugatti have announced that they will be developing a new luxury sedan that is based on the Audi A8, for release on the market n 2014. It’s important to note that Audi & Porsche are responsible for the development & production of all of the Volkswwagen Group’s luxury cars, so rest assured that the new Bugatti sedan’s development is in good hands.

The race is on between Bugatti & Shelby Supercars.
That’s because SCC are claiming that their new Aero II will be the fastest production car, with a top speed of 275 miles per hour, thanks to it’s light weight of 2,600 pounds.
Under that oh-so-sexy hood is a 6.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8, which means that the Aero II’s power-to-weight ratio is nearly double that of Bugatti’s Veyron.

Put away that $1.7 Million check you were holding the Bugatti Veyron and spent the $1.688 Miliion you’ll save by buying a Suzuki Hayabusa on something else. The much fabled Bugatti Veyron, which we are a fan of here at BallerRide, was beat out by the Suzuki Hayabusa in a 1/4 mile and 0-186mph test as well as in the horsepower-to-kilogram ratio. While the Suzuki Hayabusa might not have the lines or class of the Bugatti Veyron, it is a fast and impressive bike that will save you big bucks if your just looking for speed.
