Breckland Beira British Soft-Top Delivers Classic Look
June 3rd, 2008 by BallerRideThe Breckland Beira is a new hand-built British sports car set to debut at the London Motorexpo next week. While it’s built on an General Motors Kappa platform and powered by Corvette’s old LS2 V8 engine, the Beira somehow manages to throw off a classic British feel, semi-reminiscent of the Aston Martin. If the car’s lines look familiar, it’s because the GM Kappa platform is also used on the Pontiac Solstice, Saturn Sky and Opel GT.
Yet, unlike the other Kappa platform cars, the 400-horsepower Beira does the 0-60 mph sprint in less than five seconds and hits a top speed of 155 mph. Keeping the environment in mind, Breckland has designed the car to run on Liquefied Petroleum Gas as well as standard petroleum.
The Beira will hit the market this November with an expected price of £55,000, or about $110,000.
