Audi R8 GT Coming to American Shores

March 24th, 2011 by desiree

Audi’s rather sexy supercar was revealed at last year’s Paris Auto show, to great reviews & a lot of drooling on our behalf. At the time, the company announced that only 333 units of the vehicle would be manufactured. We here at Baller were rather happy to learn that 90 of those are coming to US shores!

The Audi R8 GT is lighter than its predecessors, shedding 220 lbs from a total of 3,582.51 lbs thanks to some carbon fiber, polycarbonate & thinner sheet metal. The 5.2 FSI V10 engine has been tuned to output 560 HP & 540 Nm (398.28 lb-ft) at 6,500 rpm. This means zero to hero (or 60mph) in just 3.6 seconds, with 0 to 124 mph in 10.6 seconds. It also reaches a top speed of 198.8 mph.

The super sexy supercar will be available in 4 body color options: Samoa Orange metallic, Suzuka Gray metallic, Ice Silver metallic, & a Phantom Black pearl effect – which sounds rather enticing… Pricing for the car will start at $196,000.00, so get on the phone & call your nearest Audi dealer ASAP!

The Lexus LS 2010 range- The new lion on the road

October 26th, 2010 by Orion

The new car brought out in the market by the Lexus range can be said as the leader in the range of luxury sedans. The vast number of features helps in making the correct decisions while buying.

The range of Lexus 2010 has the gas or hybrid powertrain technology. The fit and finish of the high quality luxury car is world class. The dynamics of the driving is well-muted when on hitting mid-life. The current range is one of the quietest sedans ever experienced. The speed is as good as any of the cars manufactured by the competitors of this luxury car manufacturer. On the other hand there is a certain lack of opulent touches that a Jaguar or Audi possess. However, this accounts for the utilitarian functions of the car instead of, in many cases, needless luxury. The prices of the hybrid model range between $65,000 and $ 109,000 and can give competition to stalwarts like Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7-Series and others. Read the rest of this entry »

Fresh From Geneva: Audi R8 TDI Le Mans

Today is the first day of the Geneva International Motor Show, and Audi has come out of the gates big with its new eco-friendly R8 concept, the Audi R8 TDI Le Mans. The R8 concept features a more aggressive front grille than production models, not to mention a more eye-catching bright red and black color scheme.

Pumping out 500 hp, the 6.0L V12 takes the car from 0-62 in 4.2 seconds and to a top-end speed of 186 mph (making the car barely fast enough to justify its looks in our opinion). What is impressive is the car’s 737 lb-ft of torque, making the R8 TDI Le Mans one of the torquiest cars in existence. The car’s Euro 6-compliance also makes it “green.” So, if Audi decides to produce the model and you pick one up, you can feel like you’re doing your part to save the planet.

Audi to Unveil Diesel-Powered V12 R8

Audi R8

Audi has announced that it will be publicly unveiling two new cars at this year’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit, starting January 13. One will be a “stunning” concept car, and the other will be a production model. While it remains unclear which of these two categories it will fall under, one of the new whips will be an Audi R8 powered by the brand’s V12 TDI diesel engine. According to Autoblog, “the car is projected to have around 500bhp/738 ft-lbs of torque, accelerate to 62 mph in 4.2 seconds and return 28 mpg, presumably on the highway.” The only downside is that the bigger engine will eat up all the trunk space. Although the V12 R8 is most likely the new concept, we hope to see it in production form sometime soon.
