French motorcycle customizer Tucson has released this sketch of its new BT550 Superleggera Aprilia sportsbike project. If the final product looks half as mean as the sketch, we’ll be impressed. The bike’s clean look is completed by 125GP-size Strawber solid carbon fiber wheels and a number of angular parts. Performance on the 100kg, 550cc Aprilia will be enhanced by custom a crankshaft for maximum power and an aftermarket slipper clutch. No word yet on pricing or availability, but we’ll keep you posted as we learn more.

Italian bike maker Aprilia unveiled its first four-cylinder production sportbike, the RSV 4, at the International Piaggio Group Convention in Milan today. The RSV 4 will replace Aprilia’s V-Twin powered RSV1000R and will compete with Ducati’s 1098, MV’s F4R and KTM’s soon-to-be-released RC8.

Utilizing advanced electronics and engine management technologies, including a ride-by-wire system, the RSV 4’s engine puts out over 200 hp in race trim.

The bike is expected to hit European dealerships this year and U.S. dealerships in 2009. Aprilia’s goal is to enter the RSV 4 in the AMA Superbike competition in 2010.
