Roman Abramovich Eclipe Yacht Diagram

Roman Abramovich, named the biggest spender in the world by Forbes in 2005, is in the process of building the world’s largest private yacht at 550 feet.  A conceptual diagram of the new megayacht, named Eclipse, has surfaced, showing that Abramovich’s new boat will be outfitted with a missile defense system, armor plating, an escape submarine, and a host of other super-high-tech security features, some of which are shown above.

Projected to cost more than $350, Abramovich’s new yacht is secretly being built by Blohm + Voss in Germany, where it is scheduled for completion in late 2008. Eclipse will join Pelorus and Ecstasea, Abramovich’s 377-foot and 282-foot yachts as part of the Russian billionaire’s ultra-impressive fleet.

Baller Yacht on the Market: SEA BOWLD 173′

October 3rd, 2008 by BallerRide

yacht, seabowld

An upside to the current economic downturn is that there will be quite a few more used yachts and private jets hitting the resale market.  One of the more baller recent listings is the 173-foot SEA BOWLD, a minimalist high-speed yacht defined by its aggressive lines and low profile. As listing broker, Edmiston, describes, “SEA BOWLD and her HSS designation and design is to yachts what AMG is to Mercedes- PERFORMANCE.” Unfortunately, the interior does not exactly reflect AMG styling. See for yourself in the images below.

Nevertheless, SEA BOWLD presents a good oppotunity for someone who is willing to perform an interior retrofit.  We’re guessing there’s some wiggle room in the $33.9 million asking price. Like SEA BOWLD, expect to see some more baller boats hitting the resale market soon. We’ll be sure to keep you posted.

World’s Fastest Yacht Gets a $5 Million Revamp

October 2nd, 2008 by BallerRide

The 114 ft Gentry Eagle, once known as the world’s fastest yacht, is getting a $5 million make over by French designer Thierry Mugler who is known for his fetishistic fashions. The Gentry Eagle designed by Tom Gentry broke Richard Branson’s record for the fastest transatlantic crossing in 1989. Later, in 1992, the world’s fastest yacht was rebuilt as a pleasure craft and is now being revamped again by British yacht broker Weyves Yachts and Agent de Luxe, a fashion-design agency run by Donald Potard, former president of Jean Paul Gaultier.

The Gentry Eagle will be completed in October of 2009 and is expected to go for $10 million. The yacht will be designed to entertain and may include crystal chandeliers, metals and a distinct and defined Mugler feel. Mugler says he will draw futuristic themes from Barbarella and Star Trek, as those are Tom Gentry’s personal favorites. What better way to customize the world’s fastest yacht?

Triple Bling Super Yacht

September 25th, 2008 by BallerRide

triplebling460_140m.JPG

Bling bling super yacht! Acualy it’s better than bling bling, it’s triple bling. The super yacht you see above was concepted by Lars Modin Design and has design specs to be built in 279 ft, 328 ft, 394 ft, and 460 ft versions. The super yacht can also be made of titanium and magnesium with a 146 hp engine for super sonic speeds. At 460 ft with two on deck pools and room for all your friends this boat is deserving of the name Triple Bling, it’s almost a small cruise liner. The yacht was originally designed in 1999, but still has a futuristic look today, and because different clients wanted different boats Lars Modin Design conceptualized all these different versions. Yet to date, no one has built Bling. Any takers?

“Bono doesn’t know a thing about boats” - The Edge

September 24th, 2008 by BallerRide

the-edge-cyan.jpgLast week it was reported by the Belfast Telegraph and other reputable sources that Bono had bought the yacht Cyan. Apparently we can’t only not trust the American news networks and newspapers anymore, but Britains news sources as well. Another U2 member has told the Irish Independant that he has bought the 140-foot yacht, The Edge. The Edge bought the yacht Cyan for $17.6 million and his wife has spent the last few months in the soiuth of France redecorating it. It has been the Edge’s dream to own a yacht and he and a few firends went in to buy the yacht Cyan, but apparently Bono has no part in it. The Edge is even quoted as saying “Bono doesn’t know a thing about boats.”
