Sub Mare Technologies is offering up no-frills subs anywhere from 13-98 foot long, built to spec. The sub they have listed on eBay is a 33ft, 10 ton sub, has a diving depth of 656ft and a range of up to 600 nautical miles. The 33 footer is available for $500,000. So if you’re looking for a reletively inexpensive way to get underwater, or if you have a drug run or two to make, Sub Mare Technologies may be the solution for you.
Take a deep flight in this aerospace-looking underwater submersable and break the solo dive depth record. Deep Flight Challenger was designed and built by world renowned engineer Graham Hawkes and Hawkes Ocean Technologies. The company makes winged submersibles for personal, corporate or military use.
Deep Flight Challenger was built to enable adventurer, Steve Fossett, to set the ultimate solo dive record for all time at approx. 37,000 ft. The submersable has life support for up to 24 hours and is expected to reach ocean depth and come back up in 5 hours with a crew capacity of one. Deep Flight Challenger cruises at 2.2 knots with a max speed of 3 knots and has a descent/ascent rate of 350 feet/second at a +/-45 degree angle. That’s faster than any roller coaster you’ve ever ridden. Unfortunately Fossett perished in a plane crash before he could dive the submersible to record depth. As such, the Challenger is currently available for purchase or lease and the record available for breaking for any other darring adventurers. Hawkes Ocean Technologies is currently the only organization in the world that has full ocean depth technology, and coming soon is their Deep Flight Super Falcon, a submersable for a crew of two so you can take your date to new lows.
Drawing inspiration from the James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me, Rinspeed has created a zero-emissions Lotus Elise capable of driving on land and diving under water like a submarine. Powered by rechargeable Lithium-Ion batteries, the sQuba is the most baller green car we’ve seen by far. The only downside is that the top must be down while the vehicle is under water, forcing passengers to breathe through scuba masks connected to the car’s integrated compressed-air tank. Anyway you look at it though, the sQuba is an amazing engineering feat, and the car’s styling isn’t bad either. Take a look at the video to see the Rinspeed sQuba in action.
Created by Marion Hyper-Submersible Powerboat Design, the 31-foot Hyper-Sub can be deployed directly from the dock, making it the first of its kind in the small submarine class. The company’s mission with the sub is to “open the seas to industry, individuals, and the military in ways never before thought possible.” Thirty-one year in the making, the Hyper-Sub is still in the test phase but should be ready for sale in the next several years. When the company starts manufacturing the vessel, it will make four models. The starting price is expected to be around $3.5 million.
