Francesco Sommacal’s 360 Riding Device

June 6th, 2008 by BallerRide

360.jpg

The 360 is a concept device from designer Francesco Sommacal that replicates a sensation somewhere between snowboarding, surfing, and skateboarding. Riders place their feet into the inner part of both wheels, which puts them in a natural position to shred roads, grass, or dirt hills. A speed control mechanism allows riders to bomb steep hills without worrying about losing control.

For those who’d rather push the device to its limits, the 360 can handle skate parks, BMX tracks, etc. Although we’ve yet to see a rail slide. Check out Sommacal’s Zerofra Design site to view videos of the 360 in action. Our only guidance to Sommacal is that he should assemble a talented 360 team quickly if he intends to market the product. His wheelies and carving skills aren’t quite cutting it.

A number of Japanese tuners have turned their attention to European luxury cars, like Premier4509 with their Bentley Continental GT body kit and Elite Sports with their custom Mercedes CLS. So far these custom creations from the Land of the Rising Sun have been pretty hot. ASI’s Tetsu GTR may be pushing the limits, but we’ll leave the final verdict up to you. The completely customized Bentley Continental GT dons an exposed carbon fiber front hood, new front and rear aprons, a new trunk and spoiler, custom chrome wheels, and a wild flower paint job from Nakamura Tetsui. While ASI hasn’t released many details on what’s going on under the hood, we do know that the Tetsu GTR packs up to 800 horsepower in its twin-turbo V-12. Make sure to check out the gallery below for an in-depth look at ASI’s custom Bentley.

French motorcycle customizer Tucson has released this sketch of its new BT550 Superleggera Aprilia sportsbike project. If the final product looks half as mean as the sketch, we’ll be impressed. The bike’s clean look is completed by 125GP-size Strawber solid carbon fiber wheels and a number of angular parts. Performance on the 100kg, 550cc Aprilia will be enhanced by custom a crankshaft for maximum power and an aftermarket slipper clutch. No word yet on pricing or availability, but we’ll keep you posted as we learn more.

1999 Ford Econoline, 100k?

April 11th, 2008 by BallerRide

trick-truck-1.JPG

Up for grabs on eBay is the 1999 Ford Econoline that was recently hooked up on March 22’s spring break episode of Trick My Truck. Priced with a Buy it Now of $100,000, the van is owned by Cinna The Poet, a Missouri-based reggae-dub-rock band, that claims funds from the sale will be put towards the band’s future. Sporting a 1950’s woody/tiki bar theme, the van comes equipped with 20″ Alba Force wheels, two flat screens, a gaming console, a ridiculous sound system, blue street glow lights underneath the chassis, and many other modifications.

The sellers claim that the extras add up to more than $100,000 in total. While we hate to be harsh, unless the band finds a rich, obsessed Trick My Truck fan, anything these guys get above salvage value should be considered a gift. Check out the thumbs below for a closer look at the van. And let us know if you’d be willing to pony up $100K for this baby.
