The-Jet by Cirrus: the Low Cost Luxury Personal Plane

April 29th, 2008 by BallerRide

cirrus-31.jpg

Cirrus’ new personal jet, coined The-Jet, is set to define its own category in the jet space. Filling the niche between high-performance single engine airplanes and the very light jet (VLJ) class, The-Jet is an easy-to-operate single jet plane that cruises at 345 mph with a range of 1,200 miles.

The-Jet is ideal for weekend getaways and flying into smaller airports, as it holds seven people comfortably and is capable of taking off in less than 800 feet. The plane’s cabin resembles that of a luxury car, as does its cockpit, which you’ll see in the thumbs pictured after the jump. For safety purposes and your peace of mind, The-Jet comes equipped with a parachute in the nose of the plane.

Quasar Lite LSA: the Greenest Airplane on the Planet?

April 2nd, 2008 by BallerRide

We came across an interesting personal aircraft listing on eBay today that could be an incredible deal if the offer is what it’s cracked up to be.

According to the plane’s seller, who goes by the name of Gee, the Quasar Lite LSA “will set at least, two World Records, probably more. 1) We will attempt a Guinness Book of Records TM, ‘Greenest Aircraft on the Planet’ this Spring with a trans-continental flight from California to Florida on a single tank of fuel & 2) We will attempt a NAA Triangle efficiency course, proving 60+ mpg.”

Reportedly, the Quasar Lite costs about $10 per hour to operate; “less…than a Toyota,” as Gee claims. With a buy it now of $144,000, we’re skeptical of the Quasar’s performance claims. But, if it’s the real deal, the Quasar Lite LSA could provide a ridiculously cheap way to fly across the country.

Float Through the Air in Your Own $1.46 Million Blimp

April 1st, 2008 by BallerRide

With space for you and five friends, you can float through the skies with your very own blimp, zeppelin, airship, whatever you want to call it. The Advanced Hybrid Aircraft’s Hornet Aerial Work has four twin motor engines that propel the airship at up to 81 knots (93 mph), at up to 7000 ft, for a distance of 200 miles. Not bad for an over-sized balloon. The airship is 100 ft long by 20 ft wide, can carry up to 2820 lbs, and sells for $1.46 million. Advanced Hybrid Aircraft will custom design the interior of the gondola to your specifications.

We think this blimp could make for a great spring or summer Sunday afternoon above your favorite city, countryside, and with the ability to hover, checking out celebrity or your x-girlfriend’s house; we won’t judge. If you’ve got something to say, daylight banners can be affixed to the side of the airship for the world to see.

Make a Statement on the Runway with Your Own Jumbo Jet

March 25th, 2008 by BallerRide

Cruising around the jumbo jet world, we came by a cool ownership opportunity for those interested in flying the clear blue skies like one of the big carriers. This 1998 Boeing 757-200 (ET), complete with a trippy wave and swirl design painted on the fuselage, is for sale out of Kentucky. The aircraft has 29,037 hours logged in the air, which isn’t that bad for a 10 year old plane. But be prepared to reach deep into your pocket as this jumbo jet is being offered up for sale at $47,500,000. At that price you would expect the aircraft to come equipped with an interior fit for a king. But to upgrade the interior of this high flyer to something suitable, be prepared to shell out a little extra for a pre-made design package like the one you see in the thumbnails below (after the jump) from Infusion Design.

So what’s the upside to spending that kind of cash on a 10 year old plane? An aircraft like the Boeing 757 is ready to fly, with each and every piece double and triple checked for quality and safety. This sits in stark contrast to another Jumbo Jet we found on sale for $500,000 pictured after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »
