The Cannes Boat Show saw a very unique water toy last week that is targeted at the Baller Boys called the EXO from French company EXOCONCEPT. If you are one who loves the pure fun and the adrenalin rush that jet skiing brings, the EXO will most likely excite you. The EXO is almost like an electric Jet Ski, the only difference being that the rider lies down on top of the watercraft in a prone position rather than in a seated position.
If you’re familiar with personal watercraft designs and have been looking around a fair bit, then you might have seen or heard of the Green Samba from Silveira Group that has so far not seen the light of day. The Green Samba was a prototype electric watercraft where riders could ride in a kneeling position with a top speed of 65 mph. Unlike the adrenalin raising Samba, the EXO is targeted at yacht owners or those who desire a simple fun experience with a max attainable speed at 31 mph.
You can order EXO in a reinforced ABS version of a rather dashing carbon fiber model. While the ABS is heavier at 29 kilograms (64 lbs), the carbon fiber version is barely 19 kilograms (42 lbs). Of course, if you add Li-on batteries the weight jumps up by 20 or 30 kgs depending on whether you add four or six racks. Buyers can also choose from 3.5, 4.5 or 7 kW/hour motors. The motor capacity will have a direct bearing on the runtime of the batteries. One would typically get a runtime between one and two and half hours. Being a baller without a price constraint, we’re pretty sure which one you’d pick.
Orders for the ABS model will be taken during the Paris Boat Show in December and will be delivered in the first quarter of 2012. The ABS model is expected to retail at US$9,975 while the carbon fiber one is expected to be priced at US$26,972.
