Seems that it’s a race to sell off significant cars at the moment & now there’s a famous Aston Martin on the sale block.
A Mr Desmon J Smail has listed the DBR9 that was the 2008 Le Mans GT1 class winner & the fifth vehicle overall in the race. The car was driven by David Brabham, Antonio Garcia & Darren Turner in the race & now Smail is hoping to make a mint off the sale of the vehicle.
The car is based on Aston Martin’s iconic DB9 road car , with the DBR9 name derived from the company’s first Le Mans winning car, the DBR1. The DBR1 took the 24 Hour Le Mans race in 1959 & the World Sportscar title, so its relative is also now a part of Aston Martin’s rich history, as well as automotive racing history.
The DBR9 has custom carbon fibre composite body panels for racing, getting the most out of that 600 hp engine under the hood, with some other tweaks & modifications to draw out the extra edge over competitors.
Also worth noting is that the car’s styling led to the gorgeous DBS that was driven by Daniel Craig as James Bond in Casino Royale & the DBS road car that got plenty of rave reviews thanks to its good looks & charming performance.
So the DBR9 also has 3 wins & 2 second places in the 2006 American Le Mans Series, as well as a win in the FIA GT1 Championship at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps under its seat belts.
Definitely a collector’s item, so check out the listing on James List.
