Fastest Little Lawnmower in the West

There are many questions in life to ponder. Here over at Baller, we’ve been wondering a few things for quite some time now, like; why is the plastic they use to cover cds so indestructible, can you have too many Armani suits & who is the fastest man on a lawnmower.
Well so far it’s this guy: Bobby Cleveland, the Engine Answerman for Gold Eagle & he set the World Speed Record for Lawn Mowers on the 4th July 2006 at 80.792 mph on the famous Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.
In a few days time he’ll be in England to witness the British attempt to break the record & exceed the 100mph barrier.
Don Wales’ lawnmower is powered by a standard 26hp Kawasaki lawnmower engine, though it’s been modified to run on high-octane racing fuel.
The Englishman has racing in his blood, with his father & grandfather’s speed records on both land & water. Don of course, decided to set his own kind of records & has been collecting accolades for land speed records with electric & steam-powered cars over the years.
He’s now set his sights on a Guinness World Record & hopes to raise funds for some charities in the process.
Of course, it’s not all about going as fast as you can. Don has to prove that the lawnmower can do what it’s supposed to do: cut grass. So on the morning of the race, he’ll have to trim a few blades for the Guinness auditors before taking the blade off & speeding away.
Bob Cleveland seems keen to see if his record will be broken & has even promised to challenge Don, should he succeed.
Either way, we’re wondering why our lawnmowers don’t move as fast as these guys’! Hopefully we’ll have the result of the May 22nd race for you soon.
