The Aston Martin convertible turns 16! Well sort of, the DBS Volante is Aston Martin’s 16th convertible model and stives to be the ultimate luxury covertible sports car. Does it mean the challenge? You be the judge.
Our favorite luxury about the Volante has nothing to do with the engine; the motorized retractable fabric roof can be opened and stored in just 14 seconds. Since we hate waiting for that sun to hit our faces, this is a feature we’re all for. The DBS is powered by Aston Martin’s 6.0-litre V12 engine with 510bhp (380kW) and 570Nm (420 lb ft) of torque. The V12 can get up to 191mph with a 0-60mph time of 4.3 seconds, which is only 9 miles slower than the world’s fastest four seat convertible.
For a transmition you get the choice between a 6-speed manual and an automatic six-speed ‘Touchtronic’ that can be engaged via paddles. Connecting you to the pavement are 8.5′ x 20 Pirelli P Zero 245/35 front wheels and tyres as well as 11 x 20 Pirelli P Zero 295/30 in the rear. To try and ring the weight down, Aston Martin has utilized carbon fiber front wings, a boot lid and bonnet which only gets the DBS Volante down to around your average Europian sedan weight.

Aside from a stylish and optional all-leather interior, inside passengers get comfortable to features like the Bang & Olufsen’s BeoSound 13-speaker sound system, integrated iPod connector, a USB connector and a Hard Disk Drive satellite navigation system.
