Alfa Romeo Mi.To to Compete with MINI

After much anticipation, Alfa Romeo has leaked images and specs on its baby Alfa, the Mi.To. Designed to dethrone the BMW MINI in the premium subcompact category, the Mi.To sports a fairly aggressive design and impressive fuel economy, although the car’s performance leaves room for improvement.
Based on the Fiat Grande Punto platform, the Alfa Romeo Mi.To comes with three engine options: a 78hp 1.4-liter; a 155hp turbocharged 1.4-liter; and a 120hp turbodiesel 1.6 JTDM. The three models do the 0-62 mph “sprint” in 12.3, 8.0, and 9.9 seconds respectively and top out at 102, 134, and 123 mph. Although the Mi.To won’t be winning any races soon, it will at least save you some gas money; the three engines achieve 40, 36.2, and 49 mpg.
Pricing on the Mi.To ranges from about $24-32k. The car’s name is derived from Milan, where the design was conceiver, and Turin, where the MiTo will be produced. Alfa will start rolling out the car in July, starting first with Europe. At the moment, the company hasn’t yet announced plans to bring it to the U.S. yet. But you could always carry one back on your yacht if you’re going to be docked in the Med this summer. Check out the image gallery below for an up close look at the new baby Alfa.
