We’ve covered a number of green motorcycles lately, like the ENV and NON-OBJECT’s nUCLEUS concept. Now, we’ve got another option to add to your eco-friendly bike choices: the Enertia electric motorbike from sustainable vehicle manufacturer Brammo. The Enertia is an urban commuter bike that exceeds 50 mph and “sprints” from 0 to 30 mph in 3.8 seconds. On a single 3-hour charge the Enertia has a range of 40 miles and costs approximately 32 cents to fill up with electricity.

Compared with conventional motorcycles, the Enertia produces far less “wheel to well” emissions. Explaining the wheel to well concept Brammo states:

Since there is energy expended to bring fuel to the consumer, be it gas or electricity, you must consider the entire system of energy rather than just the single vehicle’s energy consumption. Naturally, an electic vehicle emits no emissions during operation (often referred to as a ZEV or “Zero Emissions Vehicle”). However, the energy that is stored in the batteries was generated at some point from either a coal, nuclear, wind, solar, or hydro-electric generation plant. So… when we compare the Enertia to other vehicles, we always make sure we take into account the full energy equation on both sides.

Pricing on the basic production model is $11,995, while the limited edition version with hand-built carbon fiber bodywork goes for $14,995. If you’re interested, you can reserve your Enertia now for delivery later this year.
