Mercedes Benz Lotec C1000 on eBay for $1.6 mil
May 21st, 2008 by BallerRide View CommentsThe custom-built, 1995 Mercedes Benz Lotec C1000 up for sale on eBay may not have the looks of the Bugatti Veyron or even Weber’s faster one, but it certainly has the power to keep up on the highway. Constructed entirely from carbon fiber and aerospace material, the C1000 packs a Mercedes 5.6cc twin turbo V8 engine that throws off 1,000 horsepower at 6,200 rpm. This results in a reported top end speed of 268 mph and a 0-60 mph sprint time of 3.2 seconds. In comparison, the Veyron and the Weber do 248+ and hit 0-62 in 2.5 and 2.7 seconds respectively.
Commissioned by a private party, the C1000 was built by Lotec Engineering to be the fastest individually owned car in the world. Total production costs came out to $2.2 million, including $1.2 million for parts alone. Listed at a buy it now price of $1.6 million, the Lotec C1000 supercar is about the same price as the Veyron and the Weber. Not exactly a bargain given its age, but at least you could be confident in knowing that you’d be the only one with a Lotec 1000 on the road.
