Uganda Billionaire Businessman Michael Ezra Becomes Second in Line for a Private Airbus A380

Prince Al-Waleed of Saudi Arabia may no longer be the only individual waiting to take delivery on the world’s largest private jet, the Airbus A380. According to Kampala, Uganda’s The Monitor, Uganda billionaire businessman Michael Ezra has placed an order for the plane, reportedly paying $260 million for it.
Ezra plans to deck out his private A380 with an “office, full satellite communication equipment, a conference room for 12 persons, a karaoke room, a movie room, a gymnasium, medical centre, four self-contained VIP bedrooms, another four executive bedrooms, as well as a spa.” The plane will also have living quarters for flight attendants and enough room for three large sedans on the lower deck, where commercial airliners keep their cargo. Interior improvements are expected to run approximately $150 million, bringing the total cost of Michael Ezra’s A380 up to $410 million.
When we reported on Alwaleed’s personal A380, we estimated that the Saudi Prince spent $320 million to purchase the plane alone, the standard price quoted by Airbus. However, in reference to Ezra’s lower purchase price, Airbus has been quoted saying that the price tag on the A380 can be “different for private customers.”
Michael Ezra is expected to take delivery on his new A380 in 2010, and it will likely be registered in Dubai. The flashy Uganda billionaire enjoys flaunting his wealth with lavish purchases and generous donations to bring positive publicity to his country. Little is known about the source of Ezra’s wealth as few of his business dealings are public, although it is largely attributed to his international real estate dealings.
