Cirrus’ new personal jet, coined The-Jet, is set to define its own category in the jet space. Filling the niche between high-performance single engine airplanes and the very light jet (VLJ) class, The-Jet is an easy-to-operate single jet plane that cruises at 345 mph with a range of 1,200 miles.

The-Jet is ideal for weekend getaways and flying into smaller airports, as it holds seven people comfortably and is capable of taking off in less than 800 feet. The plane’s cabin resembles that of a luxury car, as does its cockpit, which you’ll see in the thumbs pictured after the jump. For safety purposes and your peace of mind, The-Jet comes equipped with a parachute in the nose of the plane.

While Cirrus has yet to reveal official pricing details, the company states that The-Jet will carry a price “that’s comfortably affordable for your entry into the jet age.” We’ve heard rumors that the number could be around $1 million. To reserve a spot on the wait list, Cirrus requires a $100K deposit, refundable for up to 60 days before construction on your plane commences.

[…] With all the controls located on one digital screen, the ICON requires less experience to fly than a traditional aircraft. About 20 hours of flight training will qualify you for the new Sport Pilot License required to operate the A5, which costs between $3,000 and $4,500 total to obtain. Just in case 20 hours of training doesn’t make you comfortable in the pilot’s seath, the A5 will feature a built-in parachute just like Cirrus’ The-Jet. […]
