Once You Go Black You’ll Never Go Back: AMG Upgrades the SL65

AMG has a put a new spin on the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG, which it’s renamed the SL65 AMG Black Series. Making its official debut this summer, the Black Series SL is going to be a head turner, so we thought we’d give you an advanced look at what you can expect.

The AMG SL65 Black takes the standard SL65’s horsepower from 604 to 670, while shaving 570 pounds off of the stock AMG model’s weight. Notable design changes include a fixed-top roof (as opposed to a convertible hardtop), a number of carbon fiber body parts, a wider body, and the addition of a retractable spoiler. The changes allow the car to do zero to 60 mph in less than 4.0 seconds and hit a top speed of 198 mph.

Starting in the fall, the first of 350 units will be made available for purchase at a price of more than $225,000. One more image after the jump:
