Italian bike maker Aprilia unveiled its first four-cylinder production sportbike, the RSV 4, at the International Piaggio Group Convention in Milan today. The RSV 4 will replace Aprilia’s V-Twin powered RSV1000R and will compete with Ducati’s 1098, MV’s F4R and KTM’s soon-to-be-released RC8.
Utilizing advanced electronics and engine management technologies, including a ride-by-wire system, the RSV 4’s engine puts out over 200 hp in race trim.
The bike is expected to hit European dealerships this year and U.S. dealerships in 2009. Aprilia’s goal is to enter the RSV 4 in the AMA Superbike competition in 2010.
