“Handle bars are for sissies,” or so says Jim Decker, founder of Jimmy D’z Powered Snowboards. Decker’s company produces the Snow Carver, which is a motorized snowboard, also technically classified as a powerboard. The Snow Carver hits 35 mph, turns like a normal snowboard, and allows its rider to pull another boarder.

According to the company, “this unique system is the closest mechanical way to replace the feel of carving downhill.” Decker conceived the idea to build a powered snowboard while living in east-central Indiana so that he could ride on the flat terrain. For those that don’t live in the flats, the board can travel uphill and downhill as well, and it works better in powder than on hard pack.

At a price of $3,550, this motorized snowboard isn’t a steal. Especially since it looks like a leaf blower. But, Jimmy D’z website notes that if you do buy the Snow Carver, you’ll receive an actual board in the mail, not the ski in the picture. On the upside, it is cheaper than most snowmobiles.
